Battlegrounds Mobile India — the Indian version of the PUBG Mobile game — will be available for pre-registration starting May 18 on your Android phone. Krafton has announced that fans who pre-register can grab exclusive items and special rewards that they will be able to use once the game becomes available for download. The PUBG Mobile makers are opening pre-registration only for Android phones right now, which means you will have to visit Google Play Store on your phone. For iOS, Krafton has not said anything about when registrations will begin on iPhone.

Krafton’s announcement comes days after it officially confirmed that PUBG Mobile is returning to India, however, in a new avatar. The new name Battlegrounds Mobile seems like an attempt to give a new identity to the battle royale game that the Indian government banned last year. To escape an ill fate this time, anything related to the word “PUBG” seems to have been avoided. In fact, Krafton is urging some game content creators in the country to avoid using the word “PUBG” and go for the new one, instead.

How to pre-register for Battlegrounds Mobile India

Coming back to pre-registration, only Android phone users will be able to enrol their account for when the download becomes available. And for that, you need to have a Google Play account because pre-registration will take place only via the Google Play Store on your Android phone. To pre-register, just visit Battlegrounds Mobile India in the store and tap on “Pre-register”, available on a green button on the side. Pre-registration means you have shown interest in the game and you will be notified of the developments happening to the game. Pre-registrations also help the developer gauge the interest of people in a particular app or game.

Everything new in Battlegrounds Mobile India

Although the Battlegrounds Mobile India game is a renamed version of PUBG Mobile, it has certain changes that Krafton had to make to avoid a potential ban again in India. These changes include minimisation of violence and introduction of restrictions to the game just so a larger number of people critical of the game can be appeased. First, there will be no blood spill in the game. You will instead see the green-hit effect when you shoot or hit enemies. The next is the gaming limit that you will see. In particular, those who are under 18 will not be able to play the game for more than 3 hours. And that is after they get permission from their parents. Yes, Battlegrounds Mobile India will require you to get your parents’ permission for you to be able to play the game. There will also be a Rs 7,000 cap on in-app purchases for minors. Finally, you will see fully-clothed avatars in the game.
